The airline industry is facing an unprecedented crisis due to travel restrictions imposed by the pandemic. In 2020, business travel in the United States fell 61 percent. With mass vaccinations and retaliatory travel demand, commercial travel rebounded by more than 56 per cent. Status of aviation lighting
As a result of the 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act, which requires US producers to improve fuel economy, US airlines are using LED lighting for cabin interiors, runways, taxiways and obstacles. Virgin Atlantic was the first to change from overly bright fluorescent lighting to appropriate warm-color leds. Delta followed suit, taking delivery of the first Boeing 737-900 to introduce modern lighting in 2013, which is now available on most of Delta's fleet. So are United, Southwest and JetBlue.
