Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP, TOKYO: 7912) will install a new large-size metal mask production line at its Kurozaki plant in Kitakyushu City for the production of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. The company will invest about 20 billion yen ($140 million) in the project, which will start operations in the first half of 2024.
The new production line will produce large-size metal masks compatible with eighth-generation glass substrates, significantly increasing the production efficiency of OLED displays for tablets and laptops. Our Mihara plant in Hiroshima Prefecture is also an important manufacturing center for metal mask panels. By providing back-up support to this facility, we aim to strengthen our response to the Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
DNP plans to more than double its metal mask production capacity by setting up new production lines. By leveraging our strong position in maintaining the world's number one market share in manufacturing metal masks for smartphones, we plan to further expand our business into tablets and laptops.

A metal mask plate is a metal sheet with a precise arrangement of microholes for attaching the red, green and blue primary OLED light-emitting material to the substrate.
