Samsung Display will start producing OLED screens for Apple's iPhone 15 in May, South Korean media Thelec reported on March 27. Due to production problems with BOE's OLED screens, production of some models of OLED screens has been advanced.

Production of a high-end model of the iPhone 15 series will begin in June using the technically difficult LTPO TFT technology, according to the report. BOE's OLED screens were unable to deliver the first orders of iPhone 15 OLED screens in time after a light leak occurred when the front-facing camera was punched. Samsung Display will start production of regular OLED screens for the iPhone 15 series in mid-May, and focus on OLED screens for the iPhone 15 Pro series in June. LG Display will also focus on LTPO OLED screens this year.

The report also said BOE has recently partially improved the problem and is likely to deliver OLED screens for the new iPhone 15 products within this year. The industry expects BOE to be a major supplier when Apple uses OLED screens for its low-cost iPhone SE 4 models for the first time next year. The iPhone SE series is Apple's low-cost product aimed at emerging markets and first-time iPhone users. The iPhone SE4 will also use OLED screens from the past 2021 or 2022 models, which are cheaper because older components are used.
