Centered on the color e-paper timing controller chip T2000 (TCON), E Ink has launched a new-generation e-paper control chip architecture, delivering enhanced video playback fluency for large-size e-paper signage, which supports synchronized advertising video display for retail promotional scenarios.

With optimized chip architecture, the 75-inch E Ink Kaleido e-paper sign can play dynamic videos on half of its screen at a resolution of 5120 × 1440, reaching a frame rate of 11 fps, nearly triple the previous level and greatly reducing screen refresh latency. For partial animation playback on the same 75-inch panel at around 1760×2400 resolution, the frame rate hits 13 fps.

The new architecture optimizes data processing workflows and enables parallel image transmission and rendering instead of sequential operation. While displaying current frames, the system preloads subsequent frames, significantly boosting display efficiency and refresh speed.

E Ink states the new architecture equips e-paper with robust dynamic video playback capability, driving its evolution from static to dynamic display. It unlocks broader application prospects for retail advertising and public information signage, enriching content presentation forms. The technology can also be applied to consumer electronics to deliver more responsive and intuitive user operation.
