On June 12, Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (" DNP ") announced that in order to meet the growing demand for large organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays, the Company's Kurozaki plant in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, began operating a new metal mask production line in May. Because the performance and quality of OLED metal mask is directly related to the performance of OLED display, it is one of the indispensable core materials in the production of OLED panels. DNP noted that OLED displays are increasingly being used in IT products such as smartphones, tablets, laptops and monitors. Due to the growing demand for larger display sizes, OLED panel manufacturers are pushing for mass production using 8th generation large glass substrates, which offer higher production efficiency than current 6th generation substrates. With these needs in mind, DNP has built a metal mask production system compatible with G8 dimensions at the new production line at the Kurozaki plant. DNP is continuously optimizing its Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and will further advance the BCP with the commissioning of a new production line to provide backup support for its existing metal mask production site at its Mihara plant in Hiroshima Prefecture. DNP said that with the Kurozaki plant fully operational, DNP plans to double the production capacity of metal masks.
