On November 9, according to the latest report released by TrendForce Consulting, the global smartphone market has declined for nine consecutive quarters, with only the foldable mobile phone category maintaining growth. Manufacturers released 13 new foldable phones in the past three months, setting a new record.

TrendForce learned from supply chain sources that Samsung plans to push the foldable screen phone to the mid-market next year, further lowering the price barrier and making it more widely available to consumers. The agency did not give an answer on the name and configuration of the new machine.

It is reported that this is not the first time Samsung flagship mobile phone "mid-end", everyone is familiar with the Galaxy S series FE version is a similar product. Such products usually use the same exterior design as the flagship model, but with some hardware modifications to reduce costs and reach the mid-market. If the news is true, it is expected that Samsung's mid-range foldable phone will also be presented in a similar form.

TrendForce said that with its differentiated form and innovative experience, folding screen phones are likely to stimulate consumer upgrades, and smartphone manufacturers have high hopes for them, leading to the frequent release of new folding screen phones. At present, the folding screen is considered to be a high-end product, and Android phone manufacturers have intensively launched new models to achieve the high-end brand and establish differentiation with Apple.

According to estimates from TrendForce, shipments of foldable smartphones could soar to 18.3 million units by 2023, a 43% year-on-year increase. However, that's only 1.6 percent of the total smartphone market this year. By 2024, it is expected to grow by 38% to 25.2 million units, with the market share rising to 2.2%.
