Samsung Electronics has started developing a smart Ring device called the "Galaxy Ring." Meiko Japan is responsible for advanced development of the Galaxy Ring PCB. It has been observed that the Galaxy Ring will have better body information measurement accuracy than the Galaxy Watch, but it is unclear if and when the Galaxy Ring will be mass-produced. Samsung is currently applying for a patent for the Galaxy Ring for XR devices. 

According to Korean media THELEC on July 17, Samsung Electronics has started the research and development of Galaxy Ring ahead of schedule. Meiko Japan will continue to advance the development of rigid and flexible printed circuit boards (PCBS) required for the Galaxy Ring. PCB is a sheet of various electronic components combined together and is the fastest component in the development stage. A smart ring is a wearable device that is worn like a ring. The body and health information collected by the various sensors installed on the smart ring can be viewed on the smartphone app. Finland's Oura is a representative smart ring company. Oura Smart ring is equipped with various sensors, batteries and Bluetooth capabilities. It weighs 4-6 grams and can be used for up to 7 days on an 80-minute charge. Samsung Electronics has started development of the Galaxy Ring ahead of schedule, but it is reported that the timing of mass production of the product is still unclear. Generally speaking, the industry's "early development" is divided into "early development" that concretize the product concept and "early development" that refers to the mass production. Samsung Electronics is expected to continue pre-development with Mayco and other companies to make a prototype of the Galaxy Ring and decide whether, when and how much to mass-produce based on the scalability of the product.

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is also filing a patent for a smart ring that can be used with extended reality (XR) devices. The Vision Pro, a mixed reality (MR) device launched by Apple in June, tracks a user's head and hand movements with 12 cameras and five sensors, without the need for a special controller. Samsung also describes a technology that collects a variety of information through a smart ring through a recently filed patent. Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is reported to have postponed the initial production of the XR headset from the end of this year to around June next year. This is because the Apple Vision Pro's OLEDoS (OLED on silicon) display specifications are superior to the XR headphones that Samsung Electronics is preparing. Samsung Electronics announced earlier this year that it would work with Qualcomm and Google. The goal is to compensate for weaknesses in the software.
