Research Institute Counterpoint Apple has dominated the global smartphone market by outperforming its peers in coping with the apparent cooling in the fourth quarter of last year, according to a recent report 85% profit.
Global smartphone shipments recorded 303.9 million units in the fourth quarter of 2022, down 18 percent from a year earlier and the worst fourth quarter since 2013, according to the report. For the year as a whole, global shipments recorded 1.2 billion units in 2022, the lowest since 2013.
A senior analyst at Counterpoint explained that the Russia-Ukraine conflict, inflation pressure and economic uncertainty have depressed consumer sentiment, reducing their willingness to buy mobile phones.
The trend continued into the fourth quarter of last year, with the cost of living crisis, Labour market shortages and a decline in consumer purchasing power leading to double-digit declines in shipments by all five of the world's top handset makers.
In addition, overall revenues and profits in the global mobile phone market also declined last year. Among them, Apple stands out. While many of last year's numbers were worse than 2021's, the company's ability to weather macro headwinds was significantly better than its peers.
According to Counterpoint, Apple's share of shipments, revenues and profits in the global mobile phone market in 2022 is at an all-time high: the company's shipments and revenues account for 18% and 48% respectively, while in terms of profits, Apple dominates 85% of the global mobile phone market.
The report also noted that Apple's profit lead over its peers would be greater if it shipped more high-end models in the fourth quarter. In a year of political turmoil, Apple has managed to solve its capacity problems. The iPhone Pro line continues to perform well, allowing the company to continue to benefit from the high end of the market.

Another recent report from Counterpoin shows why Apple is making such high handset profits.
The report shows that 128 GB storage capacity, i.e., low configuration iPhone 14 Pro Max mixed bill of materials (BOM) for, it costs about $464, compared with $1,099 in the United States.
In terms of specific view of specific parts, the cost of display and processor is ranked in the top two.
According to the analysis of the report, Apple's self-developed chips accounted for iPhone 14 Pro Max more than 22% of the total cost, including the mobile phone processor upgrade from the A15 bionic chip to the A16 bionic chip, which added about 11 dollars to the cost.
