LG Display's in-car display has received the industry's first green product certification. On December 8, LG Display announced that its P (plastic) -OLED (organic light-emitting diode) and high-end LTPS (low-temperature polysilicon) LCD (liquid crystal Display) panels for vehicles have received "eco-product" certification in Switzerland from global certification body SGS Switzerland.

This certification is awarded to environmentally friendly products that comply with global environmental regulations, meaning that they minimize the use of hazardous substances throughout the process from production to use and disposal.

P-OLED uses elastic plastic instead of glass as the substrate, which is lightweight and flexible, while maintaining excellent image quality; LTPS LCDS are suitable for large size and high resolution displays compared to existing LCDS.

In addition, LG Display's automotive P-OLED and high-end LTPS LCDS were highly evaluated for their power consumption and reduction of harmful substances.

Compared with conventional products, P-OLED reduces power consumption by about 39 percent by improving the luminous efficiency of organic materials. If applied to electric vehicles, it could help increase the range.

LTPS LCDS increase liquid crystal transmittance and reduce power consumption and product thickness by 17% and 7.5%, respectively, compared to existing products. Resource efficiency is also improved by reducing the number of backlit components.

Both P-OLED and advanced LTPS LCDS comply with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) established by the European Union (EU). In P-OLED, emissions of total volatile organic compounds responsible for ward syndromes such as atopic disorder meet SGS environmental certification standards.
