Auo announced the completion of the acquisition of German tier 1 supplier BHTC last week, and recently reported that in order to meet the needs of European and American automakers to disperse the supply chain, AUO will invest in a new 6-generation LTPS panel production line in Longtan plant. Auo had previously reduced its investment in the production capacity of TFT LCD panels at the Houli plant, and now it is investing in the new LTPS panel production line, which shows that AUO is optimistic about the demand for high-end automotive panels. In this regard, AU spoke channel said that AUO's original LTPS production capacity in Singapore and Kunshan plant, in response to the needs of technology and product development, AU dynamically adjusted the production capacity of the global plant, plans to build a large generation LTPS production capacity in Longtan plant, to provide a more diversified technology platform, corresponding to high-end notebook, car and other energy-saving high-resolution products demand. Under the strategy of two-axis transformation, we continue to promote the field application of various products. In addition, AUO further pointed out that the deployment of LTPS capacity in the Taiwan plant can also help the integrated production process of the Micro LED Display, which is expected to accelerate the mass production schedule and product application development, providing customers with more flexibility to meet the needs of customers in different markets and various products. As for the capacity expansion plan of the Kunshan plant, AUO's original LTPS capacity has been built in Singapore and Kunshan plant, and the Singapore plant has been closed at the end of last year, that is, to adjust the capacity allocation of the global plant, and plan to build LTPS capacity in the Taiwan plant. Auo is one of the world's top three automotive panel suppliers in the front car market, and its main customers include first-tier automakers in Europe and the United States.   As for the initial production capacity, the vast majority of AU's production lines are in Taiwan, China, currently only has a 6GEN LTPS panel plant in Suzhou, and the Longtan plant investment plan will be AU's first 6GEN LTPS panel plant in Taiwan, China, helping AU to expand its high-end automotive panel business. Auo's vehicle-related revenue will reach NT $43 billion (equivalent to about RMB 9.6 billion) in 2023, with an annual growth rate of 20%, accounting for 17% of revenue. After the merger with BHTC this year, AUO has also become a Tier 1 supplier for vehicles, and the performance growth of smart mobile and smart cockpit will be faster in the future. With the increase in the number of used panels, size enlargement and specification improvement, AUO expects the revenue of automotive display applications to grow by double digits in the next few years.
