BOE recently announced on its interactive platform that the company's 6th generation of new semiconductor display line using LTPO technology, which was laid out last year, is expected to be mass-produced in 2025.
The project was started in Beijing in February this year, with a total investment of 29 billion yuan, covering an area of about 630 mu and a total construction area of 609,000 square meters. It mainly produces high-end display products such as VR display panel and MiniLED direct display backboard, with a design capacity of about 50,000 pieces per month.
It is reported that in October 2022, BOE announced that its holding subsidiary Beijing BOE Innovation Technology Co., Ltd. planned to invest in the construction of the 6th generation of new semiconductor display device production line project applying LTPO technology in Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, focusing on the layout of VR display product market.
BOE said at that time that with the continuous development of science and technology and industrial ecology, the demand for VR products continues to release, driving the rapid development of the related industrial chain. As the core component of VR products, micro display products will also usher in rapid growth. The layout of VR display will further enrich the company's product structure and consolidate the leading position in the semiconductor display industry.
BOE also said that through the deployment of LTPO technology to accumulate ultra-high resolution semiconductor display technology, strengthen the company's core competitiveness; Through advance layout of MiniLED cutting-edge driver architecture, effectively improve the comprehensive competitiveness of MiniLED products; VR and other high-end display products are in line with the development strategy of application-oriented scenarios.
In addition, BOE also revealed that the company's FastLCD display products and Micro OLED display products used in VR/AR smart terminals have realized mass production.
BOE VR/AR products, ranging in size from 0.39 inches to 5.5 inches, feature high resolution, fast response, high refresh rate and can be used in a variety of micro display scenes.
