BOE has unveiled Tandem+LTPO's first mobile display. LTPO+Tandem technology is a combination of low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin film transistor (TFT) and double-stack Tandem OLED, namely "Two Stack Tandem" OLED display based on LTPO backplane technology. According to BOE, the LTPO+Tandem mobile display can reduce power consumption by 20%, improve life by 300%-400%, and achieve brightness > 1,600 NIT.
LTPO, whose full name is "Low Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide," translates to "low temperature polycrystalline oxide," and it is a combination of LTPS and IGZO, the dominant OLED screens. To be specific, LTPO is to add a layer of oxide on LTPS to reduce the power consumption of the screen display by reducing the energy consumption of the excited pixels. After combining the advantages of LTPS and IGZO, LTPO retains the advantages of ultra-high electron mobility, faster reaction speed and lower power consumption. On the basis of today's 5G, high brush, and even 2K resolution, it can bring a more lasting battery experience.
In the past, the minimum refresh rate of 120Hz mobile phone with OLED screen can only reach 10Hz, but with LTPO screen technology, the minimum refresh rate can reach 1Hz. The lower refresh rate will undoubtedly bring lower power consumption, and a lot of power can be saved by reducing the refresh rate. For high-touch phones, a longer battery life requires intelligent adjustment of the frame rate, meaning you can adapt the frame rate to the content, and the screen refresh rate is faster and slower than it should be.
