Huawei's Mate X3 will be the first to launch a domestic UTG.

UTG stands for Ultra-Thin Glass, or ultra-thin flexible glass cover plate. It is a special glass material used in foldable mobile phones. It is a flexible outer glass protective sheet made of ultra-thin flexible glass substrate.

The ultra-thin flexible glass substrate not only has the basic function of glass after cutting, toughening and coating technology, but also has the characteristics of thin and strong flexibility.

Although ultra-thin glass is widely used, only the "best" of them can be used in the folding screen phone, because the folding screen has more stringent requirements for the bending and durability of the glass. The ultra-thin glass used in foldable phones should not only be less than 100 microns thick, but also be processed and strengthened to make it more durable.

Before UTG was commercially available, foldable phone screens were usually covered with transparent PI plastic film, compared to UTG glass, which has advantages such as high hardness, scratch resistance, no creases in bending, and good touch. And UTG glass can be folded hundreds of thousands of times without damage, longer service life. This time, Huawei will domesticalize the UTG and launch it with the foldable Mate X3.

In addition, Huawei Mate X3 uses the inner fold design, the outer screen is the middle hole, the inner screen is the hole-free full screen, equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ chip, the rear main camera is SONY's 50 million pixel IMX766, the battery capacity is 4800mAh, support 66W wired flash charge, the new product will debut in March.
